Electric Vehicle Stations

Trout Electric has installed thousands of home electrical vehicle chargers in Southern California. As one of the first to be certified and one of the first to offer home EV stations, we are known in the industry as pioneers in this field and continue to be a preferred installer by the electric car manufacturers. We install EV Chargers all over Southern California for all makes and models: Tesla, BMW, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Chevrolet, Ford, and Audi. We are licensed and insured. We also can repair and upgrade EV chargers.

Types of EV Charging Stations

Level 1

Level 1 charging is typically referred to as an overnight charger as it uses a normal 120 volt connection. Level 1 charging stations are the least expensive and easiest to install, but for some electric vehicles it can take up to 20 hours to fully charge their car batteries so an overnight charger really does not work for them. Also, people who use their electric vehicle for commuting as well as pleasure and driving around town find level 1 chargers too slow for their schedules and activities.

Level 2

Level 2 chargers are faster, and can charge your electric vehicle's (EV) battery in hours versus overnight. Some Level 2 chargers can fully charge your EV battery in as little as 3 hours. Some cities offer rebates on installing a Level 2 charger, so while they are more expensive than level 1 chargers, when you consider rebate incentives and faster charging times, Level 2 stations become the best choice. Level 2 chargers need to be installed by a licensed electrician who has experience installing EV chargers because an improper installation can result in creating a fire hazard or electric shock. No one has installed more Level 2 chargers in Southern California than Trout Electric.

Level 3

Level 3 chargers are the fastest chargers available as they can charge a vehicle in 30 minutes to an hour. These charging stations are not intended for home use, and are only installed in commercial or industrial settings. You may find Level 3 chargers in municipal parking lots, government facilities, or commercial businesses.
